Thankful Thursday

This week we are absorbing some extended family health crises. Life is so mysterious. We all think we can plan, be in charge, but really…no mere human is in charge of what happens next in life.

So, this week, I am extra thankful for health and for the time we have been granted by The Great Spirit…no one knows when their “time” is up.

I was reminded of an old quote I love from a Northern Exposure episode:

“Well, you know, the way I see it, if you're here for four more years or four more weeks, you're here right now, you know? And I think when you're somewhere you ought to be there, because it's not about how long you stay in a place. It's about what you do while you're there, and when you go is that place any better for you having been there?” -Chris Stevens, Northern Exposure

Tell me Dear Reader, what is on your Thankful Thursday list this week?

Today I am thankful for my youngest son's thirst for learning -- and for his excitement in sharing that learning, even when it is all about dragons. :)

I'm also thankful for the delight of my word verification: "mating" LOL

I love Northern Exposure and Chris' philosophical wanderings too.

I'm also thankful for the health of our family and for living in a beautiful place with lots of space for the eyes to stretch. It's always good to come home after a day out in the city, even if the day out was a treat.

And my word verification is 'blatoloa' - sounds rather celebratory!

I am thankful for my health & my healthy, enthusiastic kids.

That is a good quote especially for those of us who move frequently. I know I spend the first six months wishing to be back in the previous place and the last six months planning for the next place. When you are somewhere, be there- good advice.

I'm very thankful for some good news today about a family member, but I can't say more since my younger son won't know about it until he gets home on Monday.

I'm thankful for my older son, who is working hard for us today.

I'm thankful for that quote--a great reminder! And I'm thankful for those grand years of Northern Exposure...

I am grateful for strong knees that let me horseback ride and hike with a minimum of whining.
