The other night I was standing in my dining room, talking on the phone to my dear friend ‘Eeta. I let the dogs out the back door and saw this:

“Ohhhh ‘Eeta” I squealed, “look out your window. It’s the lunar eclipse.”
There we stood 2000 miles apart gazing up at the same moon.
I broke into song:

“Ohhhh ‘Eeta” I squealed, “look out your window. It’s the lunar eclipse.”
There we stood 2000 miles apart gazing up at the same moon.
I broke into song:
“Somewhere out there beneath the pale moonlight
Someone's thinking of me and loving me tonight”
Eeta joined in on the second verse:
"Somewhere out there someone's saying a prayer
That we'll find one another in that big somewhere out there."
We really got going then:
“And even though I know how very far apart we are,
It helps to think we might be wishing on the same bright star”
Eeta started giggling because her horror stricken teenage son and her husband were standing there watching her with their mouths agape. I heard her husband D. say. “Oh Lord” in disgust.
We sang louder:
" And when the night wind starts to sing a lonesome lullaby,
It helps to think we're sleeping underneath the same big sky."
Then we were silent, gazing at the moon.
‘Eeta finally said.
“I love that song, and you know I’ve never been serenaded before. Not even by D.” She ended loudly for the sake of the retreating horror stricken husband.
“I know you love that song" I said. " In fact, I know you better than D with the songs…and anyway if we didn’t both prefer sex with men…and love these silly non- serenading men of ours so much……well I know we’d be married to each other. It would be great.”

If we both weren't such big busted women who might smother eacher to death...there might've been a future for us!
It's great to have girlfriends..they give us the romance that our husband's can't give! :)
BFFs rock. I'm glad yours is such a good one!
Your lunar eclipse based post is much more interesting than mine. Great show of friendship.
There's NOTHING like a best girlfriend!
I'm glad you two could share that moment.
If my husband tried to serenade me, I guess I'd laugh. Poor guy doesn't even stand a chance.
I knew the moon and its eclipse was out there but I couldn't drag myslef from out of my duvet at 3am - so thank you for showing me what I missed.
hahahaha y'all sound just like my friend Stormy and Me!
I do this with my sisters. we crack ourselves up and our kids think we're nuts.
you really are amusing. i didn't get a chance to comment the other day but your little video of the woman and the bathroom problems almost made me wet my pants.... hillarious!
Love best friends, never been serenaded before, sounds like fun.
Didn't even know about the lunar eclipse.
they must of thought you were crazy! so glad you have such a great friend!
Awww did you get just a little misty eyed? I always do when I hear or sing that song.
Ain't that the truth!
It was a beautiful moon, and this sounds like a beautiful friendship.
I lay in the back of the pick'em up truck and watched the moon disappear, eaten by the clouds before the earth's shadow had its fill. Serenades and friendship...nothing can eclipse that.
Girlfriends...history...nothing like it.
That was a beautiful post!
You made me want to call my BFF. And I'm going to. And sing to her.
I think serenading must be a girl thing! I certainly don't know any men who'd sing to the moon, even though my husband is a soppy date who will sometimes sing along to Dusty Springfield!
You gotta love a Disney song to put it all into perspective sometimes!!
My BFF and I don't do songs, but don't get us started doing movie lines!! :-D
What would we do without MaBell?!?!
She sure made life easier!!
Aah, there's nothing like a good friend!
Great story. We miss the eclips, totally clouded over!
hahaha!! i'm online right now dinking around with checking accounts and such... i had the tv on in the background. i don't even know what channel it's on. american idol rewind just came on.... clay just finished singing somewhere out there!
Awesome! And I love 'Eeta's response (I assume she's anon here).

Such a lovely post...makes me long for my former best girlfriend. (Any other woman out there feel the break up with a best girlfriend is just as painful as a breakup with a lover?)
Oh I giggled and giggled when I read this. As soon as I saw the moon, the song started running through my head and then I saw you started to sing it....with your friend! I love it love it. I have a friend like that. I miss her. She cleans the pee on my toilets. I would marry her in a heat beat. I love that you have a friend that you can sing with. Those are the best kind of friends.
I love that song! And I love that you sang it with your buddy. (And that's a great photo of the moon)
That moon was HUGE!!! I, too, stood under it wondering who else was looking up too. I hadn't thought to serenade my best friend though. : )
I love this post! You are both lucky women!
I defy anyone to say that their Husband knows them better than their best friend.
Men are homo fabricans...
we are homo sapiens.
